Slimsuit.

We heard the phrase 'Diet in a Swimsuit' today.
We couldn't decide if we liked it or not.
Should we be working with what we've got or trying to hide it?
We've decided that this is a silly phrase - we should all be proud
to show, shake and shimmy in what our Mama's gave us.
Whether it be in a bikini, tankini, full piece or the nude!!
What do you think?

If Marilyn could do it so can we!

  1. I'm not sure we can ever really hide our body with a swimsuit. Generally, we've got more "problems" than can be hidden by a bit of lycra ... large thighs, wobbly butt, bat-wing arms, and/or big boobs.

And we can spend a lot of money trying to hide it, but I think we'd be wasting our money. Let's say it actually works and we look A-MAZING! What happens once we're out of the "diet in a swimsuit" back into normal clothes? That's gotta hurt.

The trick is to work with what we've got: don't choose clothes or swimwear that make us look worse; choose things that flatter us, using what we have. Sue Rice is onto the ball with that!!

The fact is we're a world of normal, self-conscious women at every range of the spectrum. The more we just get out there and be who we are and role-model, the easier it is for others to think about doing the same. Heck, there was a time I would have died rather than be seen in a bikini. But seeing others out there with similar bodies to me running around in a two-piece made me brave.

And now I hope that women will look at me at the pool or on the beach - 90kgs, 168cm, 16F, officially obese - and say "if she can do it, so can I". If one woman does that, it'll be fantastic.

  2. To be honest, I don't even really understand what the phrase is meant to mean. It could mean hiding what we've got, it could mean a swimsuit that makes us look like we've been on a diet or it could mean to lose weight while wearing a swimsuit. In fact, I think that everybody who reads it would probably take it a different way.

I agree that it's a silly phrase, mainly because it is not terrible self explanatory.

On the topic of being proud of our bodies - I agree with what Julie posted. We are in a world of women who are self conscious - we all feel like we aren't good enough the way we are. I think we need to embrace the bodies that we have. I think it is important for us to be healthy and that's what we should concentrate on.

  4. Completely agree! Every woman should be proud - perhaps you're right we need to stop concentrating on dress size and weight and begin to focus on feeling good and healthy! But we all know that isn't easy! Maybe we should invent a pill for confidence, they seem to have pills for everything else these days!

  5. Though others get motivated with this phrase, I think the right attitude is to go on a diet and lose weight for a healthier life. I hope many will get to read this post :)
